SUMMER & ARTICLING PROGRAMS

Vancouver Programs

Student Program

Osler’s Vancouver office opened in August 2015 with four legal professionals and a focus on emerging & high growth companies. Today, our Vancouver team includes more than 50 legal professionals who advise on every aspect of business law at the local, national and international levels. We are a full-service office with a continued strong presence in emerging & high growth and several other practice areas that include corporate commercial law, corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, litigation, banking & financial services, securities, mining, commercial real estate and tax. Our growth strategy focuses on both strategic lateral hires and a strong student program.

Located in a brand-new space at Bentall Four Centre in the heart of beautiful downtown Vancouver, our office offers the resources of a national firm with the collegiality of a mid-size office. Our size makes it possible for students to get to know all of our lawyers and staff and our legal professionals make a point of including students in every aspect of their practices.

Summer and Articling Programs

With a focus on practical training, professional development and student feedback, our non-rotational summer program is designed so that you can pursue your areas of special interest, while gaining broad experience across our key practice areas.  Our rotational articling student program provides you with a structured opportunity to further explore our practice areas with flexibility to pursue an area of particular interest in more depth.

Training and Mentorship

All summer and articling students are partnered with a partner principal, a senior associate mentor and a junior associate mentor. A three-tiered mentorship structure allows you to seek guidance from leading lawyers while also maintaining valuable relationships with junior lawyers who have recently navigated the student process themselves.

Starting the first day, you will participate in a two-week comprehensive orientation program. The formal training program includes practice management, substantive law, legal skills, and business development sessions. Throughout the summer and articling term, you can participate in various training programs including lunch seminars run by Vancouver lawyers practicing in a number of different areas.
