Alexandre is a trusted advisor to clients looking for compliance advice about unique Québec issues, such as language laws and consumer protection legislation. As a litigator, Alexandre also has significant experience dealing with large-scale infrastructure project disputes, defending class actions, and acting in commercial and regulatory disputes, including appearing before specialized tribunals.
Alexandre has represented clients before the Québec agricultural and food products marketing board (the Régie des marches agricoles et alimentaires du Québec), the Québec energy board (the Régie de l’énergie), the Québec access to information commission (the Commission d’accès à l’information), the Québec human rights commission (the Commission des droits de la personne et des droits de la jeunesse), the Ontario Broiler Hatching Egg and Chick Commission, the Ontario Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Appeal Tribunal, a Canadian Judicial Council Inquiry Committee, various arbitral tribunals, the Court of Québec, the Québec Superior Court, the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Federal Court, the Federal Court of Appeal, the Québec Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Canada.
He has also advised clients appearing before the Québec environmental assessment board (the Bureau d’audiences publiques sur l’environnement) and a Joint Review Panel constituted by the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador and the Government of Canada.
Alexandre regularly represents clients in their dealings with the board charged with overseeing compliance with the Charter of the French Language (the Office Québécois de la langue française) as well as the Québec consumer protection bureau (the Office de la protection du consommateur) and the Travel Industry Council of Ontario.
Alexandre is a thought leader on language laws and consumer protection matters, having published extensive commentary on the evolution of the law in these areas and been regularly interviewed on these subjects by leading media organizations such as the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, Reuters, Le Devoir, The Canadian Press and Lexpert.
From 2013 to 2019, Alexandre taught various subjects in the North American Common Law Program at the Université de Montréal including torts, judicial remedies and trial advocacy.

- Veolia, in several disputes pertaining to the new Centre Hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal, where Veolia was a partner in the ProjectCo retained to finance, construct and operate the multi-billion dollar facility, as well as the service provider retained for the operation of the facility. Alexandre and his team notably secured arbitration awards totaling more than 15 million dollars against the design-build consortium for defects in the design of critical facility systems such as an automated materials transport system and the heating, ventilation and air conditioning system (see Veolia Santé Services Montréal c Construction Santé Montréal, 2023 QCCS 2 and Veolia Santé Services Montréal c Santé Montréal Collectif CJV, 2023 QCCS 1771).

- Montoni, a pioneer of sustainable building in Canada, in the context of the completion of the 1.3 million square feet Espace Montmorency mixed-use project in Laval, Québec, and the 1.2 million square feet Molson revitalization project in Montréal, notably as concerns the impact of the restructuring of Groupe Sélection, a partner in both projects under the Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act.
- Amazon, defending against a class action pertaining to the sale of extended warranties in Québec. Alexandre and his team achieved an early resolution of the matter through settlement and secured Court approval (see Bitton c Amazon.com.ca, 2024 QCCS 1387).
- DoorDash, defending against class actions brought by consumers in respect of delivery fees, services fees and the computation of sales taxes, as well as by merchants in respect of fees. In each case, Alexandre and his team managed to achieve early resolution of the matters through settlements and discontinuances (see, for example, Leung c DoorDash Technologies Canada Inc., 2022 QCCS 1083).
- A number of leading travel agencies and travel service providers, in counselling on compliance with the Québec Consumer Protection Act, the Québec Travel Agents Act, the Québec Charter of the French Language, the Québec Tourist Accommodation Act and the Ontario Travel Industry Act and assisting them in their dealings with the regulators charged with enforcement of these statutes in both Québec and Ontario.
